Customer-defined exchange rates
Customers can manage their own exchange rates in addition to the standard public sources such as the European Central Bank, Norges Bank, and Narodowy Bank Polski. This allows each organization to define internal or contract-specific rates when public market rates are not suitable. Custom rate sources can be created, maintained, and used in the same way as the built-in sources.
To manage internal rates, customers use the dedicated Company (COM) application. Here, authorized users can define exchange rates per currency and maintain them over time. Once the configuration is in place, it can be registered as a rate source and assigned to one or more companies. After registration, the custom source appears in the same rate-source dropdown used for standard sources, making it simple to choose during setup.
Customer-defined exchange rates are useful when your organization:
Uses internal or contract-specific exchange rates
Requires tighter control over how rates are applied to transactions
Operates multiple companies and wants to share an internal rate source across the group
Needs to override or supplement public rate sources
Rate-source configuration supports both a primary and a secondary source. When a custom source is selected as the primary option, the platform retrieves rates from that configuration first. If no valid rate is found for a given currency, the system automatically checks the secondary source. This fallback logic is part of the platform and does not require any additional setup from the customer.
This behavior applies automatically to customer-defined sources as well. Example configuration:
Primary: Custom Internal Rates
Secondary: ECB
During rate resolution, the system always attempts the primary source first, then the fallback if needed, and uses the first valid rate it finds. Existing customers who continue relying only on standard sources will not experience any change in behavior.Performance and reliability remain consistent with existing rate-resolution processes, including scenarios that involve fallback. The solution scales to support large volumes of rates across multiple customers. Access to custom rate management is restricted to users with the appropriate permissions, ensuring that only authorized personnel can create or modify internal rates.
